Will Levis Has the Chance to Prove Everyone Wrong
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (PSF) - Let’s rewind back to April 2023. It was a draft night like no other, tons of hyped college football prospects, Heisman trophy finalists and winners, and some Combine freaks. However, this draft class was headlined by quite a few quarterbacks: Bryce Young, the consensus No. 1 overall pick who built a legacy at the University of Alabama, winning a Heisman in his first year as the starter, C.J. Stroud, the next great Ohio State University quarterback who fans had high hopes would be the one Ohio State quarterback to pan out, Anthony Richardson, an absolute freak of nature, the type of athlete that was playing quarterback. Richardson had scouts all over him since his freshman year at the University of Florida. And then there was Will Levis, just the old college senior quarterback that scouts don’t see as a future franchise quarterback, but could be solid.
Levis had done everything right throughout his college career, and leading up to the draft, to be taken in the first round. Unfortunately for Levis, there is usually a top quarterback prospect that falls in every draft, and for Levis, his fall was from being projected in the top five, to drafted in the second round.
This past Sunday, Levis was scheduled to start his first game after Ryan Tannehill’s injury, and he did not disappoint. He finished the game throwing 19-29, 238 yards, with 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Levis posted a 130.5 passer rating. This is a perfect game for not only a rookie quarterback, but any quarterback. Watching this game, you could see the arm talent on display right away. Levis had two deep throws to DeAndre Hopkins that resulted in touchdowns, and the most impressive throw of the game, was when Levis threw the ball across his body, down the field and hit his tight end in stride for a touchdown. You can clearly see the type of talent he has, and why he was originally projected as a top five pick in the draft.
I am not saying the Tennessee Titans have a franchise quarterback now after one game, but the potential is there for Will Levis. The Titans front office is definitely ecstatic about getting this type of talent in the second round. As far as this goes for Levis, he has already been announced as the starter for the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, this Thursday night. In Levis’s second start, he will be on a primetime game, for the entire country to watch him prove everyone wrong for making jokes on his draft night.
