What will mills do for the texans?

At 23-years-old, Davis Mills is the quarterback for the Houston Texans. Many are seeing him as the future of the team and that rebuilding should start with him. Last season, Mills lead in passing with a record of 20-of-42. That is impressive for a rookie who was signed to a four-year deal last season. But improvement is needed from him especially with the Texans not on the playoff radar.

As a new season starts, Mills will be the lead QB and the team leader. He is two years older than Dak Prescott was when he became the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys after Tony Romo went down. Just like Dak, Mills has a chance to change the dynamic on the team and it’s the organizations job to sign weapons to accommodate him. The team is in a rework with players like Justin Reid gone, Deshaun Watson finally being traded to the Browns, and Tyrod Taylor with the Giants this season. There is also the question of the Texans division.

The AFC South has the Titans and the Colts. The Colts have Matt Ryan as their QB now and of course Ryan Tannehill with the Titans who’s 31-14 record had them first in the division this past season. If Mills and the Texans want to be contenders, Mills has to do better than a 2-9 starter record this season. With training camp in progress, we will be able to see some of the work the coaches and coordinators are doing to make Mills a passing threat.

With the new additions of Marlon Mack, Terrence Brooks, offensive lineman A.J Cann, defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo the team can create some weapons to contend with not just the AFC but the other divisions in the NFL. With the loss of John Metchie III because of leukemia, veteran Phillip Dorsett will need to step up in place of the rookie.

There are 41 days until the season starts. Let’s see what Mills and the Texans will bring to the AFC this year.
