What Can We Expect to See From John Metchie This Season?
Houston, Texas (PSF) - Last season, Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie missed his entire rookie season due to an unfortunate circumstance. Metchie was diagnosed with Leukemia. This diagnosis was caught as a surprise for many involved around Metchie. The former second round pick battled strong and quickly through his cancer and has already been cleared for the 2023 season. Metchie has been an amazing story to follow and I know his teammates seeing him there at training camp right now gives them a lot of motivation.
The question I have is, what kind of expectations can we have for John Metchie this season, now that he is fully healthy? Personally, with this being Metchie’s rookie season, technically. I think we can use this year as a studying type of year on Metchie. If he has a bad year I am not going to write him off right away, so the best thing we can get from him is however he produces this season.
With C.J. Stroud now at quarterback entering his rookie season, we could see a lot of flashes of potential for the future of the Texans. Young pieces such as Will Anderson, Derek Stingley, Tank Dell Stroud and Metchie themselves, this young core hos potential through the roof. Let’s hope first year head coach Demeco Ryans will turn this sinking ship around.
