After a promising Week 1 performance, the Arizona Cardinals travel back home in hopes of getting their first win of the season. The Cardinals had some positives to look at, while the New York Giants did not as they got embarrassed at home 40-0 against division-rival Dallas Cowboys.

Some positives from Week 1 for the Cardinals was their defense got three turnovers, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. On top of the turnovers, their defense also held Sam Howell to 202 yards and sacked him six times. Washington’s ground game was also held in check with 92 total rushing yards.

The one area that held the Cardinals back was quarterback play. Without quarterback Kyler Murray, their offense lacked explosive plays as Josh Dobbs went 21 of 30 with 132 yards and no touchdowns. On top of that subpar performance, Dobbs also had two fumbles in the second half that completely turned the game in Washington’s favor.

If the Cardinals’ defense plays like they did against Washington and Dobbs can take care of the ball, they will have another chance to pull off the upset.

When it comes to the Giants, they will likely just flush their week one game and move on to week two against the Cardinals. However, one key takeaway they can use going forward is eliminating turnovers. In week one the Giants had three turnovers and a blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown.

The Giants couldn’t have started their season any worse than they did going down 16-0 after the first and 26-0 by halftime. Considering the final result, it wasn’t much of a surprise that Daniel Jones struggled going 15 of 28 with 104 yards and two interceptions. On top of that the O-Line struggled giving up seven sacks. One positive from the Giants’ offense was running back Saquon Barkley who in 12 carries had 51 yards.

On the other side of the ball, it’s tough to judge the Giants’ defense since they were down early due to turnovers from offense and special teams. With that being said, they did give up 122 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. A positive for the Giants’ defense was Dak did struggle in the passing game in the limited opportunities he had, going 13 of 24 with 143 yards and no touchdowns.

When it comes to the week two matchup between the Giants and Cardinals, the first thing to look at would be the injury list. For the Giants Andrew Thomas and Darren Waller are questionable. Defensive end Azeez Ojulari and wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson are doubtful to play in week two. For the Cardinals Kelvin Beachum, Leki Fotu, and Budda Baker are all questionable, L.J. Collier and Josh Woods are out.

Since the Giants are the more talented and complete team this comes as no surprise that they are currently favored by four points in most sportsbooks. If both teams can limit turnovers, it’s likely the Giants pull this game out with better quarterback play. Where the Cardinals may be able to steal this game is if they take care of the ball and force multiple Giants’ turnovers like they were able to do against Washington. Not to mention, current Cardinals head coach Jonathon Gannon has a slight advantage in being familiar with the Giants’ offense as he played against them as defensive coordinator in Philadelphia.

As both teams look for their first win of the season it will likely be a low-scoring defensive battle with turnovers likely determining the winner.
