Vikings lose another close game
As a Minnesota Vikings fan, the last game against the Dallas Cowboys was one of the more revealing games I have seen for this Vikings coaching staff. The Dallas Cowboys were playing without Dak Prescott which meant Cooper Rush would start the first game of his career.
The Vikings defense has been solid all year, only giving up 20 points to a high-scoring Cowboys offense even without Prescott. The issue of the game was the play-calling for the offense. I feel like a broken record when I see a strong and aggressive first, almost perfect, possession that has typically ended with a touchdown but the offense is lackluster after that first possession and it showed weeks ago against the Cleveland Browns where our only points came on our first possession of the game.
There is something wrong when Kirk Cousins throws one fewer pass than Cooper Rush but having 141 fewer passing yards than Rush. That just shows how bad the play-calling was but also shows how bad the offensive line really played when Cousins isn’t able to sit in the pocket and drive the ball with opposing players in his face.
The Cowboys out-gained the Vikings in just about every offensive passing category as well as beating the Vikings in total yards 419-278 and had a 6.2 yard per play average while the Vikings were only at a 4.6 yard per play average.
Something needs to change on offense and it needs to happen soon with the schedule not getting any easier for the Minnesota Vikings.
