Top 5 Quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft

Kansas City, Missouri (PSF) — The quarterback class for 2023 is stacked and many teams are going to be looking for someone new under center. Here are the top five college quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

1. Bryce Young

Bryce Young had an amazing career at Alabama. He is a potential first overall pick if the Chicago Bears trade down. No matter who is drafting at the number one spot, he will be drafted by someone who can give the Bears a valuable trade. The real debate is not who is the best quarterback in this draft but who wants Bryce Young more? Young threw for 3,328 yards, 32 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. His stats declined from his sophomore season, however the Tide struggled with their receiver core during the year.

2. CJ Stroud

CJ Stroud was amazing during his junior season at Ohio State, a Heisman finalist during the 2022 season and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Stroud had a chance to win against Georgia to play in the College Football Championship this past season however, chances of that ended after a missed game winning field goal. Stroud was consistent during his sophomore year and junior year. Stroud is projected to be drafted in the top 5.

3. Will Levis

Will Levis has the best arm in this draft, there is no doubt about it. Kentucky did not have the best season this year with the offense struggling. Kentucky has had issues during the last several years struggling with their offense. Liam Coen who is the offensive coordinator for the Kentucky Wildcats was able to coach a great quarterback. As the days go by, Will Levis has been projected to potentially go as high as first overall over Bryce Young and CJ Stroud. The real question is how will he transition from college to the NFL and what system will be best for him?

4. Anthony Richardson

It was a tough year for the Florida Gators this year as well as the following year. After being in the SEC Championship in 2020, Florida has gone slightly downhill. Billy Napier looks to be in the hot seat going into the 2023 season. Did Anthony Richarson save Napier from getting fired at Florida this year? Many scouts are interested in Richardson due to his speed and mobility.

5. Hendon Hooker

Had Hendon Hooker not torn his ACL, he would be a top 3 QB entering the NFL Draft. That is how good Hendon Hooker from Tennessee is. Hooker had two great seasons at Tennessee. Coming in as a transfer from Virginia Tech, Hooker won the job in 2021 and continued to go on a roll in 2022. Hooker helped the Volunteers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide for the first time since 2006. Hooker was also top 5 in the heisman voting. Unfortunately Hooker’s season came to an end following a torn ACL vs South Carolina. Hooker threw for 3,135 yards on 70% completion percentage. He also threw 27 touchdowns while throwing only 2 interceptions under center. Hooker could be a potential draft steal to keep an eye out for.
