Top 3 Head Coach Candidates for the Raiders Next Season

The Raiders once again are looking for their head coach of the future after the patriot experiment with Josh Mcdaniels was nothing short of a disaster. The Raiders have a great location, some great talent, and a loyal fanbase that any coach would be lucky to have. The question is, who would that lucky coach be? Here are 3 potential head coach candidates for the 2024 season.

1.       Antonio Pierce, Interim Head Coach, Las Vegas Raiders

Coach Pierce is stepping in as the interim head coach for the Raiders and his energy and love for the silver and black got fans and the team rooting for him. He may not do what rich Bisaccia did with the Raiders in a similar situation in 2021, but if he is able to rally the team and get some wins, maybe Raiders owner, Mark Davis, may learn from his mistake in 2021 and keep Coach Pierce for at least a full season. As a former Super Bowl winner, pro bowler, and a current coach on the staff, The team has been strong in its support for their head coach so far, but Pierce would need to get some wins in order to keep the momentum going with this new found energy for the silver and black. On the other hand, if Davis decided to get another head coach lined up for next year, it’s taking the gamble of reestablishing chemistry and culture between the coaching staff and the players; which Davis can’t afford to mess up again.

2.       Brian Flores, Defensive Coordinator, Vikings

The Raiders may have failed their Patriots experiment with Josh McDaniels, but if there were anyone to make it work, it’d be Brian Flores. Flores is currently the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, but he has head coaching experience with the Miami Dolphins. In fact, he’s responsible for helping turn Tua Tagovailoa into one of the best quarterbacks in the league and helping change the culture of Miami into what it is now. Flores is one of the few names to have success within the Patriot Coaching Tree while most of them, like former Raider head coach, Josh Mcdaniels, prove that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are the reasons for the patriot dynasty. If Flores can turn Miami around, imagine what he could with this roster with more weapons and a historic fanbase like the Raiders.

3.       Ben Johnson, Offensive Coordinator, Detroit Lions

If Mark Davis is looking for a younger coach to be the head coach for years to come, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, may be a name to look out for. Johnson has been the mastermind of the Detroit offense that’s as good as anyone’s in the league. The game has been changing in the last few years and it makes sense to go after a young coach who not only understands how the game is currently but is able to dominate with the pieces he has offensively. Sure, the Lions are a great team all around, but the offense must score points regardless. Not to mention, when you have a top wide receiver and running back duo at your disposal, Johnson can maximize their opportunities if he’s the one calling plays in Las Vegas next season.
