Somebody once said, “my friend is my brother, just born to a different family.” It has been well documented that Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry have been friends for a long time, since their days at LSU playing college ball. In this offseason, Landry decided to come back their old stomping grounds of Louisiana and signed a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the New Orleans Saints. With Beckham currently being a free agent, one must wonder: will we see another reunion of these friends again?

According to an article by Armando Salguero, a AP All-Pro and Pro Hall of Fame voter, Landry has already started the recruiting process. When he signed with the Saints, he claimed he has been trying to get his former college and NFL teammate to join him.

The dynamic duo has found success in the NFL together. In their 2019 season with the Cleveland Browns, both Beckham and Landry recorded 1,000 receiving yards seasons. That season gave many fans hope but proved to be the best of their days together in the NFL. Neither receiver has had a 1,000 receiving yards season since then. Beckham did miss time dealing with injuries during his stint with Cleveland, but ultimately the LSU experiment failed to garner any real results.

Though a reunion always sounds nice on paper, where would Beckham fit within the Saints roster. The team signed Landry, drafted Ohio State’s standout wide receiver Chris Olave with the 11th pick and hope to have star receiver Michael Thomas back this season. Where would this leave Beckham? As the fourth option battling with the likes of Marquez Callaway and Tre’Quan Smith who are already familiar with returning offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael’s schemes?

Yes, the Saints had the least amount of receptions and receiving yards last season but with two new options and a pivotal piece returning, it does not seem likely that Beckham would see much of the field in a Saints uniform. Do not get it wrong, he demonstrated at the end of the regular season and postseason that he can still perform at a high level but when considering the situation and him currently rehabbing his knee after his second ACL tear, a reunion in NOLA does not appear likely.

The Los Angeles Rams have also been in talks of bringing Beckham back to the franchise. Rams star receiver Cooper Kupp has been cited saying he wants him back on the team and insights the good relationship they built. Even Rams head coach Sean McVay invited Beckham to his wedding, so it seems that team is keen on him, and a possible re-signing could happen somewhere down the line.

The NFL offseason has been hectic this year, so it is unpredictable of what could come.
