Passion, Energy, and Authenticity: What Nathaniel Hackett Will Bring To The Broncos
After a long 19 days of George Paton and the Broncos organization interviewing candidates for their head coach vacancy. On Jan. 28, 2022 the Broncos officially announced Nathaniel Hackett as the next head coach of the Denver Broncos. Which sparked not only joy from Broncos Country, the media, and several players but also hesitancy because of Hackett’s lack of play calling in Green Bay and downfall with the Jaguars.
Which can be debated and proven to be true but from the looks of Hackett’s introductory press conference, it looks like George Paton and the Broncos have found their guy.
What Stood Out From The Press Conference?
Normally when new head coaches are introduced to the media, fans, and the organization there is always this sort of anticipation felt throughout the room. Similar to that of nervous excitement but when head coaches walk to the podium and introduce themselves to the room. You want them to be not just confident and humble, but overall enthusiastic for the future. So when Nathaniel Hackett stood up in front of the media and Broncos Country. You can see and feel he blew roof off the place with his excitement, charisma. and pop culture references such Star Wars . Creating a fresh atmosphere that would make anyone proud to say that is my head coach.
As he established an early culture and discussed the importance of energy saying “It has to be that genuine juice. It has to be who you are and vibrate through the whole facility. Everyone has to feel it. It’s not just one person, you don’t just save it up for your star player. It has to be with anybody and everybody”. Furthermore preaching the system starts with the players saying “My favorite thing is when the players become the system and the players own the system and it’s theirs”
Another thing that was revealed during the press conference was the type of offense the Broncos may run on the field. As Hackett discussed a “maneuverable and adjustable offense that runs outside zones, takes shots down the field, and has west coast principles of the drop back game”.
Lastly, when addressing what characteristics Nathaniel Hackett wants in a quarterback he shared some rather interesting thoughts to the Broncos position of need.
“Toughness and Intelligence,” Hackett said. “Letting them get a comfort level so they could go out there and play and have that can’t stop me mentality.”
Time will tell if George Paton and the Denver Broncos made the right decision to hire Nathaniel Hackett but for now I’d say with Hackett the future is brighter than ever.
