The Tom Brady Comeback…Almost

Sunday afternoon was the anticipated matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The first half was all dominated by the Los Angeles Rams. Mathew Stafford threw to back-up tight end Kendall Blanton and wide receiver Cooper Kupp for two touchdown passes. This help put the rams up 20-3 at the end of the first half. The Los Angeles Rams continued that momentum as Matthew Stafford rushed for a touchdown in the third quarter to put them up 27-3. Stafford finished the game with 336 yards and two touchdowns throwing and one rushing.

Even when things seemed to be going in the wrong direction for the Bucs, history has shown us to never count out Tom Brady. After a crucial fumble recovery by cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, the momentum of the game quickly turned towards the Buccaneers. Running back Leonard Fournette was able to score the team's first touchdown at the end of the third quarter to bring the game to just a two-possession lead. After multiple three and outs by both teams, Tom Brady was able to find Mike Evans on a deep outside release go route for the touchdown to bring the score to 27-20.

The very next drive, Ndamukong Suh strip sacks Matthew Stafford and the Buccaneers recover the ball on the 30-yard line. 7 plays later, Leonard Fournette takes it to the end zone to tie the game up. As inconsistent as people say Matthew Stafford is, this game was not one that he was going to let slip away.

With 35 seconds left Matthew Stafford threw back-to-back clutch passes to Cooper Kupp that set up for a game winning field goal at the 10-yard line by Matt Gay. The Los Angeles Rams defeated the temporary Buccaneers 30-27. Brady threw 329 yards and 1 touchdown that game. For the Bucs, this was the comeback that almost was.  For the Rams, they now turn their attention towards the NFC championship game when they face the San Francisco 49ers.
