The (Stars) Of Cowboys Training Camp (So Far)

Dallas, Texas (PSF) - After a week of Cowboys training camp, let’s dive into some players who have impressed.

Micah Parsons

As his third season approaches, the lion appears ready to set an all-you-can-eat buffet of his opposition. Whether it be against Tyron Smith or the interior o-line, Parsons is feasting. Some of the video we have seen from camp is downright frightening. He recently stated that he’ll have more than 13.5 sacks this year, and after 26.5 in his first two seasons, it feels like a good bet.

Jalen Brooks

The 7th round rookie wide receiver from South Carolina is causing quite the stir. After two largely unproductive seasons with the Gamecocks, Brooks is making the most of his first NFL training camp. He certainly has the body mold of an NFL receiver, and there has been an impressive level of fluidity in his route running during camp.

Kavontae Turpin

Following a season where it felt like Turpin was maybe underutilized on offense, he is building a case in camp that could force Mike McCarthy’s hand. The return specialist/receiver will be 5th or 6th on the depth chart, but in the midst of guys such as Brooks, Jalen Moreno-Cropper, and Simi Fehoko also gunning for that spot, Turpin may have a leg up due to his dangerousness as a Pro Bowl returner.

Jabril Cox

The third year linebacker from LSU (who I somehow forgot about in my first PSF article) is heading into this year now two years removed from his rookie season ACL tear (the second of his football career). The beat writers are sounding the alarm on how fresh he looks, the video substantiates it, and a need for depth at linebacker puts him in a great spot to contribute in 2023.

Honorable mentions: Jalen Tolbert, Brandin Cooks, CeeDee Lamb, and Nahshon Wright.
