The Jaguars had all the momentum heading into week 2 of the NFL season. The team had just won on the road against its rival, the Indianapolis Colts. It was a team win, the Jaguars defeated the Colts 31-20. One of the main positives of the game was the Jaguars offense. The unit went three-for-three in the red zone. Jacksonville felt great leaving the game, the team knew they needed to continue executing since they were hosting the defending champs next at home. To Jaguars fan’s disappointment, the team did the complete opposite.

The Jaguars lost to the Chiefs 17-9 in a frustrating defeat. The game was there to be had for Jacksonville, sadly the offense didn’t show up. The Jaguars only scored a minimal six points on five first-half possessions past the 50. Going against the trends of last week, the offense totaled just six points on three red-zone possessions in week 2. Overall, the offense of Jacksonville only threw for 197 yards, went 3/12 on third down, 0/2 on fourth down, and allowed four sacks and had one fumble. Just a bad day at the office to say the least. The two main factors were the offensive line’s poor play and the Jaguars not being able to keep their feet in bounds. Four sacks is never a good sign. Kansas City took advantage of an injured unit by putting Chris Jones on a rookie, he totaled his first sack of the season in his first game back after ending his holdout for a new contract. Next, the ability to not execute in the endzone. Both Zay Jones and Calvin Ridley could not successfully get their feet in bounds for touchdowns. If both of them scored, Jacksonville would have most likely won the game. Just a tough break for the Jaguars. Thankfully, they get to bounce back this week against the 0-2 Texans.

Credit to Kansas City’s defense. They have played excellent football so far in two weeks. They held the Jaguars and Lions to a combined 23 points in two weeks, both of these offenses were projected to be very good going into the season. This was a rough performance for the Jaguars but there is no reason to panic. I think this team will win next week against Houston. Trevor Lawrence tends to struggle against the Texans, this time I see him having a solid day and leading the team to a win.
