The Fall off of James Robinson
Running back James Robinson was on top of the world at one point. He went from an undrafted free agent in 2020 to rushing for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns. Everyone thought that the Jaguars found a hidden gem and everyone thought he had a bright future.
In 2021 when everyone thought James was the man in Jacksonville, the Jaguars took Clemson running back Travis Etienne Jr with the 25th overall pick in that years draft. They wanted to reunite him with his former college quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Before the start of the 2021 season, Etienne tore his ACL and Robinson had to prove that he was the man in Jacksonville. In the 2021 season, he played 14 games, and rushed for 767 yards with eight touchdowns.
Coming into the 2022 season, he knew he had to fight for the starting spot, however he ended up losing it to Etienne. After playing seven games for the Jaguars, rushing for 340 yards and three touchdowns, Robinson was traded to the New York Jets. With Breece Hall out everyone thought he would be the man in New York. However, he only played four games, had 85 rushing yards, and zero touchdowns.
After the 2022 season he was released by the Jets, until he was signed in free agency by the New England Patriots. As of June 12th, he was cut by the Patriots when he has not even been apart of the team for three months. So now the question becomes: What is next for James Robinson?
