The news of the week was not the Dolphins’ 50-point win versus the Broncos that set multiple records, nor was it Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes taking their first loss of the season in blowout fashion. No, the news of the week was Taylor Swift sitting in Travis Kelce’s personal box to watch the Chiefs’ blowout win versus the Bears. If you did not already know about the potential relationship between Kelce and Swift, you do now. The broadcast panned the camera onto her every time the Chiefs scored, as if she were the offensive coordinator. The only way fans and viewers of the game could have seen more of Swift was if a go pro camera had been attached to Kelce’s mom for a POV perspective. Nevertheless, Swift was certainly happy to be there, and Kelce and the Chiefs were glad she was there as well.

While Taylor Swift and the Chiefs were hype during the events of the game, the Bears did not share the same sentiment. In a 41-10 beatdown, the Bears did not score until garbage time in the fourth quarter. By that point, the Chiefs had been ahead 41-0 for almost an entire quarter and had taken their starters off the field. The Chiefs had 456 total yards of offense compared to the 203 yards the Bears had. Along with 31 first downs as opposed to the Bears’ 11, the Chiefs dominated almost every stat. Although the Chiefs had two turnovers and allowed three sacks while not being able to record one of their own, those are miniscule issues to fix in the bigger picture of a dominant win. Mahomes and Pacheco had solid games, the defense played incredibly well, and who could forget Kelce? With 69 yards and a touchdown, he was certainly the focal point of the offense, as Mahomes even joked.

Ultimately, this game bodes well for the Chiefs. The offense has begun to find their footing, and the defense has proven that it can consistently be elite. For a team led by Mahomes, if the defense can be just as good or even better than the offense, other teams are in trouble. As they enter next week’s game against the struggling Jets, expect for the defense to continue to flex its muscles and the offense to continue to gain traction.

This game bodes well for the Chiefs in more ways than one though. For the Chiefs’ nationwide fan presence, the development of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship increase their numbers exponentially. News about the Chiefs is all over the media, and while traditional fans might be annoyed with the Swiftie takeover of the Chiefs’ media coverage, any publicity is good publicity. Meanwhile, Kelce’s jersey sales have gone up 400%, and as long as his new girl is in the stands to watch him, expect him to keep doing well. In any case, this weekend was a good weekend for Chiefs Kingdom, and as long as the Chiefs’ offense and Taylor Swift keep showing up to games, it’s only going to get better.
