Wednesday the Steelers began preparations for their Sunday night showdown against the Los Angles Chargers. The Steelers are entering week 11 with multiple players injured or on the reserved COVID list. During the week multiple guys did not practice because of injuries or the team decided to sit some guys.

Offense: Receiver Chase Claypool missed last week's game against the Lions due to a toe injury. During the week Claypool was limited at practice he is currently questionable to play Sunday night. Offensive lineman Trai Turner left the game last Sunday with an ankle injury. Turner is also questionable to play Sunday night, but Coach Tomlin is confident he can play. Fellow offensive lineman Kevin Dotson left the game last Sunday with an ankle injury as well. Dotson is also questionable to play Sunday.

Defense: Star Linebacker T.J. Watt did not practice due to a hip/knee injury. Watt sustained the injury last week against the Lions. Coach Tomlin commented on if Watt will play Sunday night stating "I'll always leave the light on for T.J. Watt" meaning if he can play, he will play. Cornerback Joe Haden left the game last week due to a foot injury. Haden is a day-to-day and will be a game-time decision. Defensive tackle Cam Heyward was limited at practice this week by coaches' decision. No jury reports have been announced so far, I expect Heyward to play Sunday night.

Reserve COVID List: Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not play against the Lions after testing positive for COVID Saturday night. According to Coach Tomlin, "Ben Roethlisberger has an opportunity to play this week if he gets two negative tests". The team will still prepare and plan around backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. Rudolph finished last week's game with 242 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick tested positive for COVID during the week. The team is unlikely to get Fitzpatrick back before Sunday. Steelers will replace Fitzpatrick with either rookie Tre Norwood or former No.1 draft pick Karl Joseph.
