Steelers get embarrassed 36-10
The Steelers playoffs hope takes a hit after losing in Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs controlled the game early with a Clyde Edwards-Helaire 1-yard touchdown run. Ben Roethlisberger throws an interception on the following drive setting up a 5-yard Byron Pringle touchdown run leading 14-0. The Steelers entered halftime scoreless trailing the Chiefs 23-0. The Steelers wouldn't put up any points until the late 3rd quarter with a Chris Boswell 34-yard field goal. Even with the game already decided the Steelers scored their first and only touchdown of the game by a 15-yard Diontae Johnson catch. The Chiefs go on to win 36-10 and clinch the AFC West.
"We didn't do enough in any phase to give ourselves a chance," stated Mike Tomlin "This is a collective, players and coaches, man. We own this. Now we have to get singularly focused on our two remaining division games."
The Steelers drop to 7-7-1 after Sunday's game. They are the first NFL team to trail by 23 points at halftime in three consecutive road games. They have also failed to a touchdown in the first half in five consecutive games for the first time since 1940.
The Steelers playoffs window is starting to close after this loss. The Bengals (9-6) are still leading the AFC North after an impressive win over the Ravens. The Steelers have two division games left and an opportunity to still make the playoffs.
