Shaky start opens questioning for Julio Jones new home

The Tennessee Titans took a significant loss in week one to the Arizona Cardinals. The Titans picked up one of the biggest trades of the NFL which was acquiring Julio Jones to their arsenal. With the week one opener Jones ended the game with three receptions for twenty-nine yards, which is not quite the numbers we are used to seeing from one of the top ten wide receivers in the NFL. Questions are now starting to pose such as, is this where he should be or is this how the rest of the season will look? Titans fans were looking for a different outcome Week one with Julio Jones debut in Tennessee, hopefully we’ll get to see more in week 2.

Furthermore, Last year’s NFL leading rusher Derrick Henry had a quiet game also with 17 rushes for 58 yards, averaging 3.4 yards a carry. With Arizona’s defense locked into the titan’s run game, this also took from their offensive arsenal. With teams knowing that Henry rushes for more than 200 yards a game, Arizona knew what scheme to walk into week one with. With only two strong runs in the second half it still wasn't enough to muscle the titans back with a one score game.

Ryan Tannehil had a mediocre game vs the Cardinals with throwing for 212 yards leaving the game with one interception. Tannehill couldn’t get off many passes with his offensive line not giving any pass protection. Cardinal’s linebacker Chandler Jones left the game with five sacks, all leaving Tannehill with no time to go through his progressions in the pocket. With these constant sacks losing team morale Tannehil was still able to find his way in the endzone for his first rushing touchdown for the season and he was also able to find A.J. Brown in the back of the endzone for their second score. Head coach Mike Vrabel most likely worked with the offensive line closely this week during practice based off their week one performance.
