Seattle Seahawk’s big decision with Russell Wilson this Offseason
With the Seattle Seahawks missing the playoffs with a record of 7-10, speculation about Russell Wilson’s future may have a big effect on the future of this franchise.
The Seahawks have several options with Wilson like keeping him for more seasons or involving him in decision-making for the team. Before this season, this was offseason drama with talks about the Seahawks possibly trading Wilson but didn’t happen if Wilson don’t improve the destination because of his no-trade clause in the contract he signed in 2019.
The relationship between Wilson and the team lately has been a story from reports of his agent Mark Rodgers not returning calls from the Seahawks about the comments Wilson made about the four-trade destination to making it public to the media. Wilson’s four destinations he considers are the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, and the Dallas Cowboys.
If Seattle considers trading Wilson, they could bring in a superstar or pro-bowl-type talent and first-round picks for the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft which they don’t have because the Seahawks traded it in the Jamal Adams trade.
If Seattle consider considers keeping Wilson, they could continue competing for the Super Bowl by the Seahawks winning strongly in their final two games of the season versus the Houston Texans 33-10 and the Arizona Cardinals 38-30. He had some solid performance in those games with him able to scramble for a first down or a touchdown and throw accurately to his receivers.
In the final press conference of the season, Wilson has said he wants to stay with the Seahawks his entire career and possibly win more Super Bowls with them.
“That’s been always my goal, to win multiple Super Bowls and I plan to be here and do that,” Wilson said. “You take every day and you just enjoy the moment.”
The likeliness of the Seahawks parting ways with Wilson is unlikely, but reports of him wanting to explore options make the question of if Wilson leaving the Seahawks increase substantially.
Wilson’s decision is unpredictable and the future of his career with the Seahawks is in his hands.
