Jameson Williams has arrived.
Lions star rookie wide receiver, Jameson Williams, made his debut in Week 13. He logged a small amount of snaps and a single target in the stat sheet. In Week 14 however, Williams started the huge divisional game against the Minnesota Vikings by making a statement in catching his first NFL pass for 41 yards and a wide open Touchdown from Jared Goff.
Williams is just 11 months removed from tearing his ACL at Alabama. He could be an important piece going forward these next four weeks for Detroit. After starting 1-6, Detroit has went on a roll. Winners of 5 of their last 6 games, Detroit now adds Williams to their mix, with their eyes on a potential playoff birth.
Detroit’s next four games are on the road against the New York Jets, on the road against the Carolina Panthers, home against the Chicago Bears and then Week 17 on the road against the Green Bay Packers.
Jameson Williams provides the Lions with a receiving option with elite speed, and the deep ball threat that Jared Goff has been lacking for the most part in this offense. As the weeks go on, Williams’ usage in the offense is expected to continue to rise. Williams was drafted #12 overall in this past years draft, where prior to being injured he was considered arguably the top receiver.
Williams is now healthy again, and he joins a team that is rolling, playing for a city that is starved for winning football. The Lions and Jameson Williams own destiny this season but looking more at the big picture, this is not the same old Lions anymore. The future looks to be bright in Detroit for Jameson Williams and the Lions.
