midseason review of how Watchable NFL Teams are this Season

Before the season started I wrote an article ranking all 32 NFL teams, based on how watchable they will be for the 2022-23 season.

I categorized the teams into four tiers which consisted of special occasion, early season, pretty fun and must see tv. Now 12 weeks into the season, we have a good glimpse of the teams that look enjoyable to watch and those that do not interest us. Unless you are a fan of that specific team. In this article, I will review all teams based on how watchable they are now.

Special Occasion

Seattle Seahawks: In my original post, I said there is nothing exciting about Geno Smith. Well, Mr “I ain’t write back” has proved me wrong.

Atlanta Falcons: Honestly, I did not expect much from the Falcons this year. However, somehow they are competitive with Marcus Mariota as the quarterback.

Houston Texans: With the worst record in the NFL, there should be no reason to watch this team. However, Dameon Pierce looks like a nice up and coming running back in this league.

New York Giants: They have a winning record with Daniel Jones as their quarterback, but I’m still not sold he is the guy. They are an intriguing team, considering they were placed in this tier.

Early Season only

New York Jets: The defense is outstanding and Sauce Gardner is a joy to watch. Breece Hall was also fun to watch before his season-ending injury. The offense is a mystery now with Zach Wilson on the bench.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Early on, I said first-overall picks Trevor Lawrence and Travon Walker will be early indicators for me to watch. Well, they have not made any noise in their play.

Chicago Bears: Justin Fields is doing remarkable things with his legs, as he is top five in rushing yards as of Week 12. He is the reason to watch the Bears moving forward.

Carolina Panthers: No reason to get excited about these guys anymore.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Pickett is going through growing pains as a rookie quarterback. Not a fun watch.

Washington Commanders: Knocking off the undefeated Eagles has caught everyone’s attention and they are a team to watch to get into the playoffs potentially.

New England Patriots: It has been a weird season for the Patriots with the quarterback play but they are still a team that can compete for a wild card spot.

Cleveland Browns: Well, the record does not look good right now but Deshaun Watson will be coming back next week against his former team the Texans so that will be interesting.

Detroit Lions: Aside from losing on Thanksgiving, this team competes and I respect that about the Lions.

Arizona Cardinals: It has been an underwhelming year so far for the Cardinals with fans asking for Kliff Kingsbury to be fired and Kyler Murray being hurt. I do not expect much out of them anymore with these circumstances.

New Orleans Saints: Michael Thomas is injured again and Andy Dalton has taken over for Jamies Winston. I do like Chris Olave though.

Pretty Fun

Teams that I felt will be fun to watch with the exception of certain things that prevent them from being in the last tier.

Philadelphia Eagles: They have been shaky after their unbeaten record was snapped by the Commanders and that is something I will continue to monitor moving forward.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson can only do so much for this offense which is why he still is an attraction for NFL fans to watch.

Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa is playing lights out with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Sign me up for more of this offense.
Tennessee Titans: As a Titan fan, I want to see that offensive performance against Green Bay moving forward because, before that game, it has been boring.

San Francisco 49ers: The addition of Christian McCaffery has made this offense such a joy to watch.

Indianapolis Colts: The Colts were heading for unwatchable territory until they fired Frank Reich and hired Jeff Saturday. I just want to see how Saturday does as a coach and so far he has not looked bad for this team.

Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings have provided us with probably one of the best games of the season with their overtime win against the Bills in Buffalo. Then they stunk it up against the Cowboys at home. But the Vikings are still a good team to watch.

Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers has struggled this season but hopefully, he can spark this offense with the emergence of Christian Watson.

Must see tv

Teams that I felt were head and shoulders above the rest of the teams.

Cincinnati Bengals: It has been an up and down season for the Bengals especially with Ja’Marr Chase being out, but I wouldn’t count them out because I think Joe Burrow can carry this team to the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys: “America’s team” will always be must see TV because of their brand and they are playing really well so far.

Buffalo Bills: This team will always be watchable, because I believe they can win it all this year.

Kansas City Chiefs: The things that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are doing are simply incredible.

Las Vegas Raiders: The expectations were high coming into this season, but they have fallen flat so far. I am still going to watch them because their games are available in my area.

Los Angeles Chargers: The injuries have plagued this team, especially on defense, but they are still an interesting team to watch considering how they are still competing with those injuries.

Denver Broncos: All I have to say is this Broncos country, let’s cry.

Los Angeles Rams: The Super Bowl hangover is real and the Rams are looking like a team that will miss the playoffs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tom Brady is still playing despite all the drama, and I will continue to watch him because that retirement may come sooner or later.
