All week long this game was viewed at and talked about as one of the best games on the schedule in week 7, the match up between two first place teams in the AFC North leading Baltimore Ravens (4-2) against the NFC North leading Detroit Lions (5-1) in Baltimore.

The game ended up being a disappointment in terms of competitiveness, as it was never a close contest. The Ravens came out and stomped the Lions right out of the gate and never let up. Quarterback Lamar Jackson started the scoring with a rushing touchdown early in the first quarter for the Ravens and they never looked back from there, as the Lions would go three and out on their first possession before punting back to the Ravens and allowing them to score just about seven minutes later to make it 14-0 in the first quarter.

The second quarter was not any kinder to Detroit as the Ravens scored again early in the second quarter, this one to tight end Mark Andrews to make it a 21-0 score. Detroit again had nothing on offense in the second quarter, leading to the Ravens eventually finding the end zone as Gus Edwards rushed to the right to push the lead to 28-0. All Ravens the entire first half, as they dominated on both sides of the football.

The second half seen just a few scores from either side as the Lions failed to make the game competitive, the first score out of the half was again for the Ravens, good for Jackson’s third passing touchdown on the afternoon and the second to his tight end Andrews which would be the only points on the board in the third quarter, 35-0 Ravens heading to the fourth quarter.

Lions first round rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs found his way into the end zone for his first touchdown of his young NFL career early on in the fourth quarter, providing one of if not the only bright spot for the Lions as a team on Sunday. Kicker Justin Tucker would make a 32 yard field goal, and that would put a bow on the scoring for the afternoon as the final score would read 38-6 Ravens over the Lions.

A dominant performance for Baltimore all the way around, and an impressive win over a team that is still looking to be a contender for the number one seed in the NFC this year. For Detroit, this will be one that they will try and forget it ever happened and they will look to move forward, still sitting comfortably a top the NFC North looking forward to a match up against the Las Vegas Raiders in Detroit for Monday Night Football in week eight.
