Ravens pass catchers step up in win over the Rams
In Week 11, the Ravens suffered a big loss to their offensive attack, as Tight End Mark Andrews suffered a potential season ending injury against the Bengals. When this happened, everyone was left to wonder what pass catchers would step up in the absence of someone who was arguably the number one option on the Ravens passing attack in recent years. Since the injury to Andrews, Baltimore’s pass catchers as a group have all seemed to take a step up in the absence of their tight end. Names like Odell Beckham Jr, Zay Flowers and Isaiah Likely were the next in line to take over the targets left over by the loss of Andrews.
Since week 11, those three players have indeed stepped up, specifically coming off of their bye week this week against the LA Rams at home. In a game that seen the Ravens win on a walk off punt return touchdown in overtime 37-31, the Ravens offense put on quite the performance. Odell Beckham lead the team in receiving yards with 97 including four catches and a touchdown. Backup tight end Isaiah Likely also found the end zone for a touchdown to go along with 83 yards on five catches, and Zay Flowers contributed the game tying touchdown and two-point conversion attempt to help send the game to overtime along with piling up 60 yards on six catches.
Baltimore has to love the production that they got in Week 14 from the pass catchers on their offense, especially as the receiving core was one of the initial concerns this season for the Ravens after a slow start and some early drops. Baltimore will need this type of production to continue going forward as they strive to lock up the one seed in the AFC and then from there shift their focus on their push for the Lombardi trophy. With Lamar Jackson at the helm putting together another MVP caliber season, this offense looks as if they haven’t skipped a beat since losing their star tight end Mark Andrews.
