Ranking the top rookies so far this season: Stroud and Nacua lead the way
So far this season we have seen several excellent rookies on both sides of the ball. Some have been the high draft picks, while a few have also been unexpected. But, who has been the best of the best and who should we be looking out for?
Rams WR Puka Nacua
The top spot could really be a toss up between Nacua and Stroud, but Nacua gets the nod given that he was drafted much later on. Nacua has been arguably the biggest surprise this season and has done an excellent job in place of Cooper Kupp. Nacua is currently top 3 in the entire NFL in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Expect Nacua to keep this up even with Kupp returning.
2. Texans QB CJ Stroud
After a rough first game, Stroud has looked like one of the top QBs in the entire league and currently has this Texans team rolling. He is among the league leaders in yards and completions, and he also has yet to throw an interception. Looks like the Texans may have just found their new franchise QB.
3. Falcons RB Bijan Robinson
Despite a Falcons offense that has struggled, Bijan Robinson has been perhaps the only bright spot. Robinson has already had several highlight plays and seems to take someone’s ankles in every game. He is top 3 in the NFL in rushing yards and is also among the YPC leaders.
4. Eagles DT Jalen Carter
The Eagles have had one of the best defensive fronts in football and Jalen Carter is a big reason why. The rookie DT has been among the league leaders in pressures and pass rush win%, and has also been a factor in stopping the run. Carter could very well win DROTY if he keeps this up.
5. Dolphins RB De’von Achane
Achane is a speedy back who has been on an absolute tear the last few weeks. He had a monster game in week three and followed it up with another great game in week 4. Seems like the Dolphins found themselves another weapon, as if they didn't already have enough.
Honorable mentions: Brian Branch, Devon Witherspoon
