Burrow and Chase Rule the Superdome Once Again

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase traveled to the Caesars Superdome together for the first time since winning the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship, and they did not disappoint.

Back then, Burrow and Chase etched their names in history to cap off a perfect season with LSU. In the championship game, Burrow threw for 463 yards, five touchdowns, and rushed for a touchdown as well. Chase had nine receptions for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns. They were seemingly unstoppable.

A little over a year later, the duo got back together as Chase was drafted by the Bengals as the fifth pick overall, a year after they drafted Burrow first overall. It didn’t take long for them to get their groove back, and they helped lead their team to the Super Bowl in Chase’s rookie season.

Following a heartbreaking loss in the Super Bowl, the Bengals haven’t played up to everyone’s expectations. They’ve been losing very winnable games against below-average teams. With all the talent they have on both offense and defense, this team should be dominating the league. Burrow started the season off slow, but he’s been finding his groove the past few weeks. Chase, on the other hand, has had a very quiet season so far. He had 129 receiving yards in week one against the Steelers, and hadn’t broken 100 ever since.

Following another slow start to the Bengals offense on Sunday, they finally began to turn it around. Burrow was able to connect with his receivers, and the run game finally found some success. Near the end of the half, Burrow had a 19-yard rushing touchdown, mirroring his rushing touchdown he had last time he played in New Orleans.

In the second half, Burrow hit Chase for two touchdowns, including a deep 60-yard touchdown reception on the first play of a drive. What’s even more impressive is that this was longer than any touchdown reception Chase had last time he was in the Superdome, having a 52-yard touchdown reception back in 2020.

Although it wasn’t as pretty as the last time they played down in New Orleans, the Bengals came out on top with a crucial 30-26 victory over the Saints. Chase finished the game with seven receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns. I hope it’s safe to say that Chase has found his groove again and will begin to be more of an offensive weapon for this talented Bengals team.
