Quincy Williams this season has been a surprisingly effective addition almost immediately after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The older brother of star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams showed that this sibling duo is one to be feared. Quincy Williams was selected 98th overall by the Jaguars in 2019 but was thrown right into the starting position in his rookie season as a linebacker. At Murray State, Williams was a safety/linebacker hybrid player. Through the first 5 games of his rookie season, Williams played 99% of defensive snaps for the team. After two seasons in Jacksonville, Williams was released. Fortunately, the Jets were already familiar with the Williams family in the organization and picked him up off waivers. After two seasons with Jacksonville, Williams had 59 combined total tackles.

In just one season with the New York Jets, Williams had 110 combined total tackles, 73 solo tackles (second-best on the team), along with 2 sacks. He was able to give a spark to this Jets defense with big-time hits and bring excitement to the defense with his fan-favorite fist pumping “Mortal Kombat” celebration. His best game this season came in a Week 4 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Both Williams brothers were seen flying all over the field, as they both combined for 19 total tackles and 3 sacks in an overtime win. Both Quincy and Quinnen Williams made history, becoming the first pair of brothers on the same team with sacks in the same game. The brothers are teammates again for the first time since they went to Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Individually, Quincy Williams had 9 solo tackles and a sack in an all-around impressive performance by the defense.

Williams had high production in his first season with the Jets and got a nice pay raise this offseason. He got a pay increase because as a 3rd round pick, he averaged more than 35% of the team's defensive snaps over his first 3 seasons. His salary increased from $965,000 to $2.54 million. It seems like the Jets linebacker group is revamped this season with C.J. Mosley coming back for the 2021 season and receiving the Curtis Martin team MVP award. Williams provided much-needed energy to this defense and has proved he's built for New York. Look for both Williams brothers to make an even bigger impact this 2022 season.
