Prime time preview: Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Chargers

With the acquisition of Russell Wilson, primetime television slots seemed like a great place for the Denver Broncos. In hindsight, viewers are likely displeased with the dreadful games that Denver has produced in the spotlight so far this season. Hopefully that will change on Monday night for their fourth primetime game this season against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers, 3-2, have already docked a win against an AFC West opponent, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 24-19 during their season opener. The Chargers forced three turnovers while Justin Herbert on the offensive front found the endzone three times throughout the 60 minutes of play.

This week, Los Angeles is coming off of a competitive road win against the Cleveland Browns while the Broncos, 2-3, may have played their ugliest game of football at home last Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts. Still, Denver has the third best defense right now in the NFL while the Chargers have the fourth-ranked offense in the league which, together, will make for an exciting matchup.

So far this season, Los Angeles has been plagued with injuries. Star wide receiver Keenan Allen is doubtful to play against Denver this week with a hamstring injury from week one. The Chargers also await the hopeful return of pass-rusher Joey Bosa to fuel their defensive effort. Quarterback Justin Herbert has been having some issues with his ribs but will play despite the recent injury.

With the long week, Denver may have had enough time to find their rhythm at practice, however, most signs point to a Chargers victory. The Broncos have yet to prove themselves as a divisional threat, falling to the Raiders 23-32 in week four, making a win this week almost critical. Will this be Wilson’s breakout game? Denver is growing impatient.
