Predicting the Cowboys Record for Next Season

Dallas, Texas (PSF) - The 2023 NFL Schedule has now officially dropped for all 32 teams next season. There are a lot of notable games that a ton of fans have circled, especially the Dallas Cowboys, having one of the tougher schedules in the league next season. I will go though every game and predict the record of the Cowboys next season, so let’s hop into it.

Week 1 - @ New York Giants

This game could go either way after we saw a good Giants team make major improvements in the offseason, but Dallas still has their number for now.

Record: 1-0

Week 2 - Vs. New York Jets

The Jets are a new team and have a lot to prove with a new quarterback under center that Dallas is very familiar with in a bad way. I think Aaron rodgers spoils the home opener.

Record: 1-1

Week 3 - @ Arizona Cardinals

There shouldn’t be much to say here. Arizona will likely be the worst team in the NFL next year, so Dallas should take care of business.

Record: 2-1

Week 4 - Vs. New England Patriots

I think this will be a defensive, low scoring game. With Dallas’s offense being largely better, it should ultimately be the deciding factor.

Record: 3-1

Week 5 - @ San Francisco 49ers

Look, I think Dallas wins this game and a lot of people will be looking at this as an upset. The 49ers always start the season slow which is nothing new to their fans, plus the whole quarterback situation could be interesting by week 5 for them.

Record: 4-1

Week 6 - @ Los Angeles Chargers

New Chargers and former Cowboys offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore will be looking for revenge, but Dan Quinn and the defense will not be allowing that.

Record: 5-1

Week 7 - Bye

Week 8 - Vs. Los Angeles Rams

This will be a tougher matchup than most people think, but Dallas should have enough to pull through. At 6-1, this is a hot start for the Cowboys but everyone knows they will be cooled down.

Record: 6-1

Week 9 - @ Philadelphia Eagles

These two games between the Cowboys and the Eagles will be some of the best next season. I think they will split the series with both the home teams winning.

Record: 6-2

Week 10 - Vs. New York Giants

I think this game will the one where Cowboys fans start questioning the team. I fully expect Brian Daboll to lead his squad into Dallas and dismantle them in this game.

Record: 6-3

Week 11 - @ Carolina Panthers

After a tough battle against the Giants from the week before I think the Cowboys will come out slow and defeated in this game but eventually pull through in a close game.

Record: 7-3

Week 12 - Vs. Washington Commanders

The Commanders have finally sold their franchise but they are still a little brother team to the rest of the NFC East. Who knows what their quarterback situation will be by week 12, but either way it shouldn’t be pretty.

Record: 8-3

Week 13 - Vs. Seattle Seahawks

This game could possible go down as the game of the year and not a lot of people are expecting it. Two young teams with similar traits all over their roster. This game could potentially be a high scoring shootout, but with Dallas’s defense having the edge over Seattles, that’s what should win Dallas this game.

Record: 9-3

Week 14 - Vs. Philadelphia Eagles

As I said before, these teams should split the season series with both teams winning at home and this is Dallas’s home game.

Record: 10-3

Week 15 - @ Buffalo Bills

This could be another defensive battle in which will likely be a cold, snowy game in Buffalo. With the Cowboys not used to this kind of weather this should give Josh Allen and his team the edge.

Record: 10-4

Week 16 - @ Miami Dolphins

I think the speed threat of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will be an issue, but I trust Dan Quinn more than anyone to find a way to slow them down. I think Micah Parsons and the D-Line have a huge game.

Record: 11-4

Week 17 - Vs Detroit Lions

With the Lions potentially being a playoff team next season, I fully expect them to run the table in the second half of the season. Dallas will probably take this game for granted and underestimate Jared Goff. Detroit rolls through.

Record: 11-5

Week 18 - @ Washington Commanders

There’s two ways this game can go. The first one is that Dallas could still be playing for the one seed or the division, if that’s the case then they come out and win. If they have a seed or division wrapped up, they will rest their starters and Washington will treat it like their Super Bowl.

Final regular season record: 12-5

If Mike McCarthy can go 12-5 for the third consecutive year, he needs to get his respect. As far as this goes for the Cowboys, they shouldn’t care about any regular season rewards or achievements. Play good enough to make the playoffs, but when the lights are on in the playoff games, they have to come through and make this year different. This is probably make it or break it for Dak Prescott.
