Patriots Sign rookie Wideout Boutte

New England has offically announced their first rookie signing for the 2023 NFL Season. That signing is none other than sixth-round selection Kayshon Boutte, who is a wide reciever out of LSU. This is the second consecutive draft where the New England Patriots draft a former LSU Tiger. Offensive Lineman Chasen Hines was the most recent Tiger who was drafted by New England prior to Boutte.

Bill Belichick had a very unique draft this year with bulking up most of the defense instead of offense this year. While wide receiver was a need, it was not until the sixth round where the Pats drafted Boutte. Demario Douglas out of Liberty was another wide receiver to be drafted by New England. This is the first draft since 2013 where New England drafted two wide receivers in the same draft where they drafted Aaron Dobson out of the second round from Marshall and Josh Boyce in the second round out of TCU

Before the 2022 season started Boutte was projected to be a first round pick in this years draft however due to a down year, his draft stock rapidly went down to where he was still on the board for the Patriots to draft. Boutte agreed to terms with the Patriots on a rookie deal for four years, $4 Million.
