Patriots Falling Short of Being 2-0
The New England Patriots were potentially a field goal away from being 2-0. While the Patriots played some good football on Sunday, it just was not enough to take down the Seattle Seahawks who kicked a game winning field goal in overtime to conquer the Patriots in Foxboro in Week 2.
The Patriots started off great, getting on the board with a touchdown from Jacoby Brissett to rookie wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, who was the only wide receiver who made a reception in Sundays game.
The defense did all they could against DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba who ran through the Patriots secondary. Christian Gonzalez was able to lockdown Metcalf when primarily covering the star wideout. Keion White continues to show why trading Matthew Judon might have been the right decision with White grabbing another stop. Patriots ended up having a chance to make the game a six point lead when Joey Slye went to attempt a field goal that would make it 23-17, however the kick ended up getting blocked and Seattle was able to tie the game and force it into overtime.
Jason Myers was able to get a kick through the uprights into overtime and seal the deal for Seattle. New England falls to 1-1 and will have a short week as they will be playing the Jets on Thursday night while Seattle will be back to the west coast and play Miami.
