NFL Suspends 5 Players violating Gambling Policy
The NFL has suspended five players for violating the NFL gambling policy on Friday. Four out of the five NFL players who were suspended were members of the Detroit Lions while the other was on the Washington Commanders.
2022 first-round pick Jameson Williams and wide receiver Stanley Berryhill were given six games suspensions. While the suspension is happening, both players can workout during offseason workouts and training camps as well as participate in the preseason games; however they will not be able to play in the regular season until the suspension has ended.
Wide receiver Quintez Cephus and safety C.J. Moore have also been suspended indefinitely. After it was announced the two teammates were suspended indefinitely, the Detroit Lions have announced that both were released the same day. Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney was also suspended indefinitely.
These suspensions happened a little over a year after star wide receiver Calvin Ridley was suspended for the entirety of the 2022 season for NFL’s gambling policy.
