New York Jets Trade for Eagles’ Pass Rusher Haason Reddick
The Philadelphia Eagles are sending the 29-year-old edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets. The Jets are giving up a conditional 2026 conditional third-round pick that can go up to a second-round pick if Reddick gets 67.5% play time and 10 sacks.
The Jets feel that this will be a good replacement for their edge rusher Bryce Huff that left in free agency, and their inability to bring in players like Jadeveon Clowney and Shaq Barrett.
Reddick is heading to the Big Apple with a large cap-hit of 14.25 million dollars and is owed a bonus on April 1 of one-million dollars that the Jets will have to pay. The Jets may give the edge rusher a contract extension before the season begins. The Jets are clearly in a win-now situation with the personnel they have picked up during this free agency to capitalize on the window they have with Quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Reddick is still one of the top pass rushers in the league, even with his lack of production towards the end of last year. The Eagles went through a lot of changes during the tail end of last year such as changing defensive coordinator which clearly limited his usage and production, putting up five straight sackless games to end off the year. This is not a concern as other stars in the league did not have strong finishes to their season like Cleveland Browns pass rusher and Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett who went on a similar five game straight sackless streaks before getting one in the final week of the season against the Jets.
Reddick will be a great piece in a strong Jets rotation of pass rushers that includes two first-round picks Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson, and John Franklin-Myers.
