New York, NY (PSF) —On Sunday it was reported that the Arizona Cardinals picked out three finalists for their vacant Head Coaching position. That number is now down to two, Mike Kafka the New York Giants Offensive Coordinator and Bengals defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo. The last finalist, Brain Flores, took the defensive coordinator job in Minnesota. Brian Flores took the job for the Vikings the day after being named a finalist for the Cardinals. With an even better chance at landing a Head Coaching Job if Kafka does leave, fans of the Giants can only think on how will this affect Brain Daboll coaching staff.

Before the offseason for the Giants began, there was a feeling that teams with empty positions would be taking a look at Mike Kafka as he deserves credit for the Giants surprise success this season. The Giants finished with a 9-7-1, got their first playoff win since 2012, and quarterback Daniel Jones transformed into a franchise player. Kafka has already interviewed with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts for the head coaching openings. With the Cardinals job looking like it might be Kafka best opportunity, who will replace Kafka as the OC and what effect will this have on Brain Daboll?

Wink Martindale is still in the running for the Colts Head Coaching Job and even quarterbacks coach Shane Tierney is also interviewing for the Buccaneers OC job. Brain Daboll would have to build up his coaching staff from the ground up again. Wanting to build from the success for next season, Daboll may be banking on the fact that it was only the first year. If the coaching staff had been in their positions for multiple season then maybe they should’ve been concerned, but Daboll brought these guys with him and established a culture.

Not to downplay the work and influence of Kafka on the offense, but at first glance it seems that is was Daboll’s fingerprints over the offensive transformation that made Daniel into a good player. Evident by the play of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his ascend during Daboll’s time with the Bills. Nevertheless, losing any coaching staff isn’t a net positive.
