Miami’s Recent Struggles Against Buffalo

The Miami Dolphins play The Buffalo Bills on Thursday night in an AFC East battle between two 1-0 teams. Miami has struggled against division powerhouses in the past decade, not having won the division since 2008. After the Patriots dominant run, the Buffalo Bills have won the past four division titles. Miami has not had the outcomes they desire against Buffalo during that time.

Miami has lost 11 of the past 12 games to Buffalo, including the playoffs. Tua Tagovailoa is 1-6 in his career against the divisional rival. This is what he had to say on Tuesday about the narrative against Buffalo.

That’s going to be what’s written out there until we do something about that. That’s going to be the narrative, that we can’t beat the Bills. And until we do beat them, and we beat them consistently, none of that’s going to change. And we have an opportunity to do that this year. We have an opportunity to do that this Thursday.

The last time these two teams played was last year in Week 18. The division title was up for grabs in Miami. However, Miami put up only 14 point on offense and didn’t score in the second half, ending the game on a Tua interception. Tua finished with 173 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions compared to Josh Allen’s 359 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Miami needs to forget their past struggles against Buffalo and focus on playing a complete game. Even though it’s very early in the season, Thursday can be an indicator on who will have the momentum in the division to start off the season.
