Malik Willis is one of the prominent quarterback prospects in the NFL draft, but would the Seattle Seahawks draft him?

With rumors of Russell Wilson being traded from the Seahawks due to cap space flexibility, the team could find a replacement in the NFL Draft with Willis. This was a matter that would be an option to get first-round picks for this draft and a star player if the Seahawks trade Wilson.

Willis possesses the same attributes as a younger Wilson with the ability to be a double threat in using his legs and arm. He is a viable weapon when he could extend the play with his legs and consistently make defenders miss tackles. Like Wilson, Willis could run outside the pocket and run-pass options (pros) while throwing accurate passes. Physically in height, Willis is closely similar to Wilson’s (5’11’’) height of 6’0 but is heavier

These intangibles are aspects the Seahawks could consider when their scouts are observing him at the NFL Combine.

Despite the positives about Willis’ ability as a quarterback, there are minors negatives about his game like pocket movements, progression on the concept of dropback, and anticipation in throwing the ball in the middle field. These negatives are something that the Seahawks should polish for Willis to be an every-week starter in the pros.

Other NFL teams would want Willis’ services depending on the situation in their quarterback positions. The first problem is the need for a quarterback like the Steelers, Washington Commanders, and Broncos. The second issue is that teamed they would want a quarterback like Willis as a replacement for their current quarterbacks like the Atlanta Falcons (Matt Ryan) and the Detroit Lions (Jared Goff).

Wilson’s future in Seattle is still questionable with recent news of him “scrubbing” the Seahawks from his Twitter bio, but haven’t publicly stated that he wants to leave. If Wilson wants to leave, Willis could be the guy to be the Seahawks’ franchise quarterback for the future.
