Lou Anarumo is The Best Assistant Coach in The NFL
Game after game, fans across the entirety of the National Football League (NFL) have seen the mastery of Lou Anarumo. The Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator has been the best assistant coach in the entire NFL and it’s not even close.
In Cincinnati’s week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bengals faced an early 17-0 deficit. It looked like Cincinnati was completely out of the game, until Lou Anarumo pulled out his wizardry. The Cincinnati defense forced 5 second half turnovers, leading to a 31-0 run to allow the Bengals to win this game 34-23.
Each and every week Anarumo shows the league just how great his defense is. Cincinnati fans may believe that they have some star players on that defense, and rightfully so. However, from a broader perspective, this defense is filled with good players, not anything special. Pat McAfee puts it best when he says that this defense “Just has guys.” This is a tough unselfish defense that is led by the greatest assistant coach in the NFL.
Anarumo has developed a great defense in Cincinnati and has played a key role in this team’s success as they look to make another postseason run. Given his success in Cincinnati, it would make sense for him to be at the forefront of coaching searches this off-season. With his continued success against the Kansas City Chiefs, it would make sense for the division rival Denver Broncos to target Anarumo to replace Nathaniel Hackett. However, on Wednesday January 18 Malik Wright, CEO of The Wrightway Sports Network (TWSN) reported that Anarumo will be sticking around in Cincinnati.
This comes as a massive shock, as almost everyone in the NFL world figured the best assistant coach would be given an opportunity somewhere with the plethora of jobs opening up.
In recent weeks, Joe Burrow has expressed his intentions to stay in Cincinnati with Zac Taylor for his entire career. As long as Burrow is there, this team will always be a contender. None the less the longer Taylor can keep Anarumo on his staff, the better chance this team will have of winning its first Super Bowl in franchise history.
Cincinnati has something special brewing with Anarumo at the helm of their defense. Anarumo will be remembered as one of the greatest assistant coaches in NFL history.
