Atlanta, Georgia (PSF) – The NFL’s kickoff rule is something that has caused a lot of good and controversial moments that happens while the league is about to start of a new season. This year has been nothing special in my opinion that would cause some sort of controversy or a bad form of business deal. The league approved a resolution in May, that allows players to fair catch on kickoffs with the resulting possession beginning at the teams own 25 yard line.

Among this part, the greatest kick returner of all time, Cordarelle Patterson, isn’t fretting how much the rule change will thwart his chances. This will be a very interesting deal for the kick returner, who will not change his approach when it comes to returning kickoffs.

Patterson commented that he didn’t pay too much attention to it because he didn’t feel that it would affect too much of what they got around in the team. Additionally, he stated that the Falcons would be really more aggressive in the upcoming season.

Despise the bravado in Patterson initial comments, the Falcons returners did comment that if teams kick short, Patterson might be forced to call more fair catches. Patterson admitted that it will depend on the situation of the upcoming games, which is the most realistic version.

This should be a really interesting approach in what Patterson should do. He is already an NFL record with nine kicks returns for touchdowns, setting the mark with a 103-yard score last season. The veteran acknowledges that no one knows precisely how the new rule will impact returns until the game begins.
