The Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Trevor Lawrence have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth 275 million dollars. This makes Lawrence the sixth quarterback in the league with an annual salary above 50 million dollars.

Lawrenceโ€™s new annual salary will be $55 million per year which puts him on par with another number one overall pick, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

Lawrence is now under contract until 2030, and the contract includes a 37.5 million dollar signing bonus and 200 million dollars guaranteed, with 142 million of that being guaranteed at signing.

Lawrence ranks fourth all-time in Jaguars franchise history for passing yards (11,770) and passing touchdowns (58). His most notable moment in his career so far, is his comeback in the 2022 Wildcard Round against the Los Angeles Chargers where they came back from a 27-0 deficit.

Lawrence has been the best quarterback for the franchise since Blake Bortles 2017 season. His career has been full of ups and downs, with some weeks Lawrence looking like a top five quarterback in the league and other weeks putting up lackluster statistics across the board.

The 2023 season was not a good one for Lawrence and the Jaguars overall, falling from an impressive 8-3 record to losing five of their last six games to completely miss the playoffs. Only three weeks last season did the hyped-up duo of Lawrence and wide receiver Calvin Ridley reach 100 or more yards combined.

Now the Jaguars have completely revamped their receiving corps, bringing in wide receiver Gabe Davis from the Buffalo Bills and drafting Louisiana State wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Lawrence is still a top 10 quarterback in the league even with having a disappointing 2023 it was realistically only his second real season with his rookie year under head coach Urban Meyer was a complete disaster.
