Jadeveon Clowney Finally Stays Put

Cleveland Browns DE expected to sign 1-year $11 million deal to stay with the team

After five seasons, with the Houston Texans, DE Jadeveon Clowney moved around a bit before joining the Browns last season. This includes stints with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and the Tennessee Titans in 2020. Prior to signing with Cleveland in 2021, questions about the former number one overall pick’s availability continued to be asked, as injuries continuously limited the veteran DE on the field.

Clowney would continue to play his game, finishing 2021 with an impressive 37 tackles and nine sacks - the second-best of his career. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport, Clowney is staying with the Browns on a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, despite larger offers from other teams. Playing alongside three-time Pro-Bowl DE Myles Garrett allowed Clowney to re-establish as a dominant pass-rusher, as the duo would pose as an eye-opening threat to offenses.

With Clowney secured for another year, as well as offseason moves like the addition of three-time Pro Bowl Quarterback Deshaun Watson, there is reason for hope and excitement for Browns fans after a disappointing 8-9 season in 2021.
