Is the Raiders season over?

This is all I have been seeing and hearing about the Las Vegas Raiders after their loss to the (4-1) Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night by a score of 29-30. The Chiefs have looked almost unstoppable so far this season long by running through every team in their way.

Kansas City’s three victories before Monday night, have been against teams that are projected to make the playoffs.

For the Raiders this was as impressive as a loss can get. As a Las Vegas fan, there were moments of hope during this game that possibly the Raiders entire season could be turned around.

However, as the game progressed one could see the how Raiders reverted back to their usual ways, making ridiculous penalties and bone head plays down the stretch of the fourth quarter. For the offense the Raiders big three showed up to play: Derek Carr was respectable by going 19-30 with two touchdown passes to his favorite target Davante Adams, who finished the game with an additional catch to gain a total of 124 yards. Josh Jacobs was the real star for Las Vegas’ offense and looked unstoppable in the first half. He finished with 21 carries for 154 yards and a touchdown, a monster game for any running back averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

On the other side of the line it still starts and ends with Max Crosby being the only consistently good player for the Raiders defense with another two sack game. The Raiders offensive line, which I have mentioned several times earlier this season, turned it around last night and played surprisingly well, only allowing two sacks and blocking for Jacobs to accumulate over 150 yards. The Raiders secondary however was ripped to shreds by Mahomes for four touchdown passes and 292 passing yards.

The Raiders are 1-4 with their biggest loss being by difference of six points, and have held a lead in almost all of their games. But I am not convinced there is a light at the end of the tunnel for this season. At this point, mostly Raiders fans are hoping for a top draft pick next season that the front office fires head coach Josh McDaniels, and run it back next season.
