Is Mike Tomlin on the Hot Seat?

After the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football in Week 14, there’s speculation that head coach Mike Tomlin could be on the hot seat. I n the history of the NFL, no team with a winning record has lost back-to-back weeks to team’s with a 2-10 record. Tomlin’s Steelers were the first to do it.

Tomlin’s still one of the greatest coaches of all time and he’s never coached a team to a losing record. In his tenure with Pittsburgh, Tomlin has one Super Bowl ring.

The fans called for offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s job and they were granted that wish after the team's Week 11 loss to the Browns. Now that the offensive struggles continue, the fans want Tomlin canned.

The Steelers are currently in third place in the AFC North with a 7-6 record, but they fell out of a wild card spot with Thursday night’s loss. Granted, Tomlin lost his quarterback Kenny Pickett, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 13 against the Cardinals. Pickett hasn’t made big enough strikes in year two to get this team over the hump, but he’s still worthy of his starting job.

If Tomlin was to get fired, you would see a lot of team’s target him, even teams with a head coach they weren’t necessarily looking to move on from. With a track record and reputation like Tomlin’s, he’s going to get plenty of looks.

It might be time for a fresh face at the helm of the Steel Curtain, but will it come at the end of this season?
