Is It Too Early to Call Keion White a Hit?

Foxborough, Massachusetts (PSF) - The short answer?  Yes.  But let's not go with the easy, typical, logical answer…let’s get crazy.  This “kid” looks like he could be a monster.  I say “kid” because he's much younger than me, but I put it in quotes because he looks like a 10 year vet already on the field from a size standpoint.

Not only does his 6’5” 290 lbs. frame hold up with NFL standards though, but he’s a quick s.o.b. on top of it.  He only had two tackles in the first preseason game but was constantly in the backfield disrupting plays in the run and pass game.  Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you that a preseason game against the Houston Texans is in any way a good measuring stick for any player, especially when it’s the first game of the season.  I will say that his instant impact was felt, and those feelings stirred a fire in me to want to be the first to say this draft pick is a success.

I also believe Christian Gonzalez shined as well in a few plays and was marked down for a forced fumble, though I think it should have been a broken up pass instead (nobody cares…its preseason).  So we could be looking at another strong draft class for this Patriots squad that is building towards hopefully another top five defense, even after the loss of Devin McCourty.  Look, all I'm trying to say is it's WAY too early to make declarations like this, but also where's the fun in staying logical and patient?

Oh yeah, did you see Malik Cunningham too?  He is single handedly going to make the preseason fun to watch.  I'm not convinced any of it can translate to the pro game, but if Billy O can scheme up some interesting gadget type plays to break out i'm here for it.  That pass on the run to Tre Nixon in the back of the endzone was a thing of beauty.

Tre you HAVE to catch that my man.  If you want to continue sniffing practice squad time you’ve gotta step that game up! Cunningham also juked a guy out of his shoes on the way to a 9 yard TD run AND shrugged off one of the most vicious facemasks these eyes have ever seen.

There’s your clap-trap for the day.
