Is It Really Make or Break for Mac Jones?

BRIAN FLUHARTY - USA TODAY SPORTS

Foxborough, Massachusetts (PSF) - Year two for the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback did not go as planned. Now the real question coming into play is if Mac Jones can emerge as a true starting quarterback for the New England Patriots coming into Year three. An Ankle injury did cause Mac to miss three games during the season to where Bailey Zappe had a great outing as a starting quarterback during the time Jones was inactive.

With Bill O’Brien returning as an offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots after a horrible year of Matt Patricia doing the playcalling, Mac finally has a real offensive coordinator to do the play calling. The only question that will have to come into play is if Jones can progress now that O’Brien is the one doing the playcalling.

While this is still only year three coming up for Mac Jones, the clock is ticking on how much he can make an improvement before possibly losing the starting job. This season for the Patriots will certainly be similar to a guantlet considering they have the toughest schedule in the entire National Football League.
