PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (PSF) — Mike Tomlin started coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers at 35 years old in 2007 and has since coached the Steelers to two Super Bowl appearances. The year is 2023 and Mike Tomlin has concluded his 16th year coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers. In those 16 years including, he has yet to have a losing season.

Mike Tomlin has coached some talented players over the years but even when he doesn’t have the talent around him, he finds ways to rack up wins with his clever play calling an emphasis on rushing the ball on offense. With elite running backs such as Leveon Bell, Najee Harris, and Rashard Mendenhall on the ground. Their patience in the run game as well as play-action fakes to the fullback confuses teams to the point where their offense becomes unpredictable.

Despite missing the postseason for only the sixth time in his career, Mike Tomlin has proven once again why he is one of the best coaches in the NFL. Even with an average quarterback to start the year in Mitchell Trubisky and a rookie quarterback in Kenny Pickett, the Steelers were able to finish the year strong winning four straight games. After today’s game where the Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns 28-14, they finish the regular season with a record of 9-8.

With a young receiving core in Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Pat Frieirmuth and Zach Gentry, a solid running back in Najee Harris, and an amazing defense the Steelers have the potential of being one of the best teams in the league when healthy. Year after year the Steelers are expected to be either horrible or a contender, and they end up exceeding expectations either way.
