It’s pretty safe to say that the panic button has already been pushed, especially in New York. The Giants got embarrassed at home by Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings 28-6. The supposed “elite defensive line” of the Giants was bullied by the Vikings as Sam Darnold did whatever he wanted, slicing and dicing the Giants Secondary. Things were even worse on offense as the Giants scored a measly six points, while their Forty-million-dollar Quarterback Daniel Jones, threw two interceptions and seemed a ghost of the player Giants fans all saw against the Vikings two seasons ago in the wildcard. The mood at the Meadowlands is bleak, to say the least.

Washington on the other hand, didn’t have much of a better day. Sure they were able to score three touchdowns unlike their NFC East rivals, but their defense was torn to shreds by Baker Mayfield as the former 2018 first overall pick had 4 touchdowns and 289 passing yards. Jayden Daniels had a solid rookie debut, running in for two scores but there is plenty of work to do for the former Tiger to do if Washington wants to get anywhere near the postseason this year. Washington’s secondary was abysmal as the likes of Emmanuel Forbes, Benjamin St-Juste, and Mike Sanistril had no answers for Tampa Bay’s receiving trio of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan. Washington will be hoping to bounce back and beat a team in the Giants which has had their number, as the Commanders have gone 6-13-1 against Big Blue in the past decade.

If there is ever a team that Daniel Jones loves to play against, it would be the Commanders. The former Duke Blue Devil has a 5-1-1 record against Washington. With Jones needing all the confidence that he can get, Giants fans can take solace in the fact that he typically performs well against Washington. Commanders fans will feel that they have the better quarterback as Jayden Daniels has given the commanders a newfound hope in their signal caller, one that hasn’t been there since they drafted Robert Griffin III back in 2013. The question will be if Daniels will be able to handle the likes of Dexter Lawerence, Bobby Okereke, and Brian Burns.

Despite all of the signs indicating a Commanders win, with their struggles against Big Blue, don’t be surprised with a Giants victory. Jones loves to show up against the Commanders. Now with Emmanuel Forbes out with a thumb injury, making Washington’s secondary even more thin, expect a big day for 2024 first-round pick Malik Nabers. Even though it won‘t be pretty, Jones and crew should be able to get the job done away from home.

Score Prediction: New York Giants 20 Washington Commanders 17.
