Eagles Week 8 Takeaways
In Week 8, the Philadelphia Eagles took a trip to Detroit to face the Lions. Going into this game, I know personally, I was nervous. It was one of those games that you know you should win, but you’re waiting for them to mess it up and lose somehow. Thankfully, the Eagles were able to pull off a 44-6 win. It was super nice to see a huge emphasis this week on the rushing game, and hopefully, it is something that the team continues to do since it had such a huge payoff. With Miles Sanders being out due to injury, Boston Scott and Jordan Howard were the stars who carried this team to victory with combined rushing yards of 117 and 4 touchdowns. The game started off a little rough with us getting pinned within our own 5 yard line and having to punt it away, but the team did a really good job not letting it get in their heads and they fought a tough game. Being able to get on the board first was also a huge advantage for the Eagles. Usually, the Eagles are known to make mistakes, so being able to get on the board before the Lions did gave them a cushion. Granted, the Eagles scored 41 points before the Lions scored 6 points so they didn’t need it, it was still good to have just in case things went bad. The Eagles’ defense also really picked it up this past week by getting pressure on the quarterback, making 5 sacks, and forcing a fumble which resulted in a touchdown by Darius Slay. Jalen Hurts also seemed to look a lot more comfortable in this game, which is a great thing to see. Overall, the Eagles looked pretty impressive. Did they play the best team? Not at all. But, did it look like they started working on mistakes and making much-needed changes? Yes, and I consider that a win in itself, let alone getting a win last weekend.
