Division rivalry renewed

It is always a big game when the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers face-off. The Packers come in with an 8-2 record which puts them 3.5 games in front of the Vikings who sit at 4-5 which is second in the division. If the Vikings want any chance of securing their spot in the playoffs this game would be huge for that campaign.

The game plan for the Vikings defense is easy to talk about but everyone knows it is much harder on the field. Stopping Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams which also stopping the run is a tough task especially when Adams is arguably the best receiver in the game. Even with Aaron Jones not playing, AJ Dillon is not someone who the Vikings can just forget about because he will punish the defense if that is the case.

The Vikings will need to stop the run to limit the impact of the play-action while keeping everything in front of them. The return of Harrison Smith and Patrick Peterson will be huge assets for the Vikings in order to contain the highly explosive Packer offense.

The plan for the Vikings offense was demonstrated in last week’s win against the Chargers. Play aggressive and trust your playmakers to win you games. If the Vikings are able to keep their foot on the gas and keep feeding Dalvin Cook it will open up the passing game and could lead to another big game from Justin Jefferson or Adam Thielen. This is even more important with Green Bay’s best defensive back, Jaire Alexander, remains out with an injury.

The Vikings need to continue their urgent manner if they want to continue to win games and make it to the playoffs.
