Did Zach Wilson Buy Himself More Time as a Jet?

Zach Wilson had the game of his career on Sunday, in the team’s 30-6 win over the Houston Texans. It was reported by a credible source close to the situation that Wilson and Head Coach Robert Saleh have mutually agreed to part ways and he will be traded.

Wilson completed 27 of his 36 passes for 301 yards and two passing touchdowns. It was Wilson to (Garrett) Wilson a lot on Sunday, as they connected for nine completions for 108 yards. Running back Breece Hall made a big contribution to the offense through the air, as he caught eight balls for 86 yards and then tacked 40 yards on the ground on 10 carries.

The Jets’ offense exploded for 30 points and the defense did what they’ve done all season, embarrassing MVP level quarterbacks.

Wilson has been thrown into the fire since he entered the league in 2021, after being the number two overall pick. He’s been named the starting QB, benched more than once and demoted to third string twice as well. He’s also gone through this with the media capital of the world, New York, making it their goal to get him to say the wrong thing on a daily basis.

Wilson didn’t have anything to lose on Sunday. If the reports are correct, his tenure as a Jet will come to an end after the season is over. The worst thing that could’ve happened was getting benched, especially in a season that likely doesn’t have playoffs in their cards.

Wilson may have tricked a lot of fans on Sunday, convincing them that he’s the quarterback of the future after Aaron Rodgers retires. If Wilson can string together multiple above average performances together to end the season, do you think there’s a chance he returns to the Jets’ QB room in 2024?
