The Daniel Jones Contract Situation

The New York Giants have not started off the season the way they have liked. There has been a lot of problems up front on the offensive line but quarterback Daniel Jones hasn’t stepped up to the plate while there have been clean pockets. Jones has continuously missed receivers down the field and this has been a problem for him in his career. Coming off a year where New York went to the playoffs and won a playoff game many thought things were turning around. Head Coach Brian Daboll hasn’t been pleased with his play and was caught on the sideline yelling at the year five quarterback multiple time during their 24 - 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. If the season continues the way it has been going general manger Joe Schoen will have tough decisions to make in the offseason. Last offseason Jones was signed to a 4 year 160 million dollar contract which included 81 million guaranteed. Now the contract to the public looks terrible at this point but Joe Schoen set up the contract to where the Giants can get out of the contract and save 19 million dollars after the 2024 season. The way things are going you have to wonder if that contract was set up as a safety net for New York to then pivot to another quarterback if things went south with Jones. Things should get interesting for the G-Men for the rest of the season. Will Jones step up and prove he was worth the money? Or will Joe Schoen get his pick at his own quarterback for the future? Joe Schoen has a lot of pressure to turn this storied franchise that has struggled to sustain success since Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.
