Cowboys to Watch in the Final Preseason Game
Dallas, Texas (PSF) - The NFL regular season is approaching, but there is one more game for players on the roster bubble to impress. Here are some Dallas Cowboys to keep an eye on against the Raiders.
Rico Dowdle and Malik Davis
These two are in a battle that is perhaps the biggest toss-up on the roster.Tony Pollard is RB1. Deuce Vaughn has likely secured a spot on the roster. The Cowboys will only keep 3 running backs (maybe 4 if you add FB Hunter Luepke to the mix).
Mazi Smith
Mazi’s roster spot is obviously not in question, but vocal Cowboys fans on social media (and some of the beat writers) have not been particularly impressed with him thus far. It’s no doubt been a mixed bag, but he should get another lengthy look to quell some of the concerns.
Jalen Brooks
The rookie 7th round WR was a training camp darling. He’s flashed a little bit in live-action, but maybe not as much as some folks expected. It’s hard to imagine any receiver supplanting him for the 6th receiver spot at this stage, but let’s see if Brooks can do more in preseason week 3 to fully secure his spot on the 53.
Isaiah Land
The undrafted rookie defensive end has been excellent so far this preseason. He’s had eight pressures and has looked generally disruptive. I get a sense that with one more moderate to flashy performance, he’ll be sneaking his way on the 53 to add even more skill to an already deep defensive line.
