Corey Davis this season has shown that he's all in for this New York Jets offense, as he signed a 3 year $37.5 million deal with the Jets last offseason. Unfortunately, we were not able to watch the former first-round pick play the entire season. Although, we did get answers as to what is needed to get done headed into the 2022 off-season.

Corey Davis had been put on the injured reserve list week 14, as he was set to undergo season-ending core muscle surgery. In just 13 games played this season, Davis hauled in 34 receptions for 492 yards and 4 touchdowns. Averaging 15.5 yards per catch. Even though Jets fans are disappointed they couldn't see him play a full season, we did discover the need to pair Davis with a true No. 1 receiver. In doing so, this can open up the field tremendously with Elijah Moore still in the mix. This can make a more effective and fluent offense for Zach Wilson.

In a recent interview, Head Coach Robert Saleh was asked if the Jets would pursue a receiver in the draft or free agency for an immediate impact player. When looking at teams like the L.A. Rams and the Buffalo Bills, you see that acquiring a playmaker at a premium was well worth it because they were in a position in their franchise where they can make a jump to the playoffs. The real question is if the Jets are at that point in development to make such a jump. Whatever decision the Jets make this off-season, will directly or indirectly aid Zach Wilson in his development. 

Corey Davis’ best game this season came in a week 4 matchup against his former team the Tennessee Titans. The Jets were 0-3 heading into this game and the offense was not looking as good as we had hoped. Luckily Davis was out for vengeance as he hauled in 4 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown (27 yards per catch). He was able to create space and make great moves after the catch. Including a big-time touchdown catch from Zach Wilson to take the lead with 9 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. 

There is still much more for Jets fans to see from Corey Davis and his speedy playmaking ability. Do not be so quick to cast aside this receiving core for the New York Jets. Once Davis is paired with a fellow No. 1 receiver, he can take the outside position and Moore will remain in the slot. Jets fans have a lot to look forward to this off-season, as the Jets have intentions of making big moves amidst their $70 million cap space. Gear up for the Jets to make a jump this 2022 season.
